Title: Water Filter Freezing Danger
Post by: TWP on November 01, 2016, 10:46:35 AM
The filter element in your water filtration unit is vulnerable to freezing AFTER you have first used it.

It is not in danger of danger when it is new and dry.

Read this article for some serious warnings about what to do to prevent freezing...

From the article:

"Tips To Protect Water Filter From Freezing Carry close to your body if it’s that cold…
Keep in your sleeping bag at night.
During the winter, boil the water for drinking instead of filter.
Use chemical water treatment instead of filter when it’s that cold…"
Broken filter elements cannot be repaired.  Throw them out and replace from your prepper stocks.
You do have multiple replacement filter elements, right?
