I think this is a good idea, but NOTE you need plastic film which has been specially coated to resist Ultra Violet light breakdown of the plastic.  This is not cheap and likely will NOT be available in a PAW.  It also does not last forever, just more than one or two growing seasons...  So you must either stockpile a lot this plastic sheet, or go with glass hot house windows.
