400 watt wind turbine

(1/2) > >>

I build and set up a 400 watt wind turbine the second of 4 to power my off grid place.I have been a little shy on wind power the last few years but its time to get it all set up because of how well it compliments the solar system.

I now have 3 of these little turbines set up and they are working great. They are keeping batteries full even with snow and overcast days.

If you were starting from scratch....if you have at least enough wind turbines to supply all of your evening power needs (in my case would be comm devices, two freezers, some lights, security stuff) can you buy a smaller battery pack because you will not need to store electricity for night time use?  Would you also be able to buy a smaller solar pv setup because you would have the wind turbines working during the day time?

beorn:
Yes but you will need some form of backup power because there are times when you have little wind or solar. yes you could also go smaller on the solar but once again there are times and days the wind does not work for you.

pengyou:
Thanks! The first step is to design so that there are minimal energy needs.  Then join PV with wind, battery and a generator.  Each generating option should be capable of at least minimal needs.
