8:05:13 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
In my early twenties, I lived in a 8x22 Wilderness camp trailer for 6 years
8:05:24 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Looking forward to hearing you on the air when you get your ticket
8:05:56 PM
Jason
Looking forward to it...
8:05:58 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Three of those years, was on 3 acres of land that we were building a home on
8:05:58 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Wow glenda! How was that?
8:06:37 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
The first 3 years, we were parked in town with water and electricity but no toilet.
When we moved to the land, we gutted everything except for the kitchen
We built a new bedroom and storage for clothes
8:08:13 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Sounds interesting!
8:08:14 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
When on property, we had no electricity or running water
There was a well but it took us a couple of years to get a pump and generator big enough to pump the water
The property had a small barn and outbuilding. The original cabin had burned to the ground yars ago
Our heat was a wood stove for the first 2 years
8:09:40 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Wow!
8:10:06 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
The property was at 8500 feet elevation on the north face of the continental divide
snow was deep all winter
summer was very short
8:10:38 PM
Jason left the channel (timeout)
8:10:41 PM

my water jugs were always frozen all winter
Winters were tough

8:11:25 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Oh wow
8:11:33 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
We found a sweet spot to gather firewood and filled the barn our first fall on the property
even though we were 30 miles from town, we still had tremendous neighbor issues
Our first year, we had 1 neighbor. He had lived in that area by himself for over 20 years. We literally were his first neighbors and he was not welcoming at all
8:12:53 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Hermits can be that way.
8:13:02 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Not happy about 2 young hippy kids, dragging a piece of junk camp trailer down the road and roughing it

The building inspector was only part-time
he was a full time rancher
and he didn't really care what we were doing
8:16:08 PM
Jason joined the channel
8:16:15 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
but since the building was less than 500 square feet, we had no choice but to move back into the camper
even being 30 miles from any town, we had neighbor issues
8:16:48 PM
Jason
What is the biggest downfalls/barriers to the RV/tiny house lifestyle?
8:16:48 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I agree with so much of what Rob is saying
especially about tiny homes vs an rv
8:17:02 PM
Ken K7KBJ
.
8:17:26 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I loved the experience
I learned a lot about roughing it in an extreme environment

Living fully off grid
8:18:38 PM
Jason
Thanks for the info Rob
8:18:40 PM
K9RVM - Rob
you bet. I got to talking and timed out.
8:19:12 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
My RV was not nearly as nice as Rob's
8:19:38 PM
Ken K7KBJ
.
8:19:40 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I was not as portable as Rob and Fred
My trailed was parked for more permanent needs
after we rebuilt the inside, it was too heavy to be towed and there was no title on it too
So, no plates
8:20:33 PM
K9RVM - Rob
When I got out of the Army I was planning on getting an RV and being mobile. My dad talked me out of that convincing me that real estate was a better means to amass future wealth. Times changed and I kick myself for not doing it when I was in my twenties. I would be retired by now and galavanting around the country by now.
8:20:34 PM
Jason
Gives me things to think about but not sure I’m ready to downsize. I’m lucky enough to live on 10acres.
8:20:54 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
The kitchen was fully intact and that was my saving grace
8:21:11 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Kitchens are nice !
8:21:40 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Living in a small space makes you think about everything you own and you think twice over purchases
There's minimal space for the non-essential
8:22:20 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Thats true! I do that now, with the appartment.
8:22:24 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
So that is one huge money saving piece of living in such a small space
8:22:41 PM
K9RVM - Rob
I was thinking between 10 and 40 acres but thank goodness I didn't do that. I may have found myself in a position that I couldn't go where the work is. I will say though, going full time RV has shaved 7 years off of my retirement. if the winds of fortune continue to blow my way that will be 10 years instead of 7.
8:23:04 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Every thing has it's place too.
8:23:21 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Oh thats a good amount of savings rob! Wow!
8:23:34 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I did get snowed into home once. Couldn't leave for 3 days, until the road department got the roads cleared again
8:23:49 PM
Ken K7KBJ
.
8:23:57 PM
K9RVM - Rob
so true Glenda. I now hold onto those things that mean the most to me. It's odd to see how many things I had that I frankly found I could easily live without.
8:24:19 PM
Josh K7ZIM
At least you had road department to clear it!
8:24:26 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Got snowed out from home on numerous times. Pass was closed while I was in town at work, so there were times that I had to find places to stay for a night or 2 during the winer
two of my asshole neighbors actually worked for the road crew on the pass.
8:24:59 PM
K9RVM - Rob
more so though is the situation that I really do not need to purchase anything. everything I have is perfect and I just don't need or have room for more "things"
8:25:09 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
they would bring the bring trucks to our neighborhood after the storms and clean us up good
8:25:18 PM
Jason left the channel (timeout)
8:25:20 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
the only nice thing about those neighbors

8:27:17 PM
K9RVM - Rob

8:27:39 PM
Josh K7ZIM

8:27:42 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Thank you Rescue Chicken
8:27:54 PM
Ken K7KBJ
The web feed sounds better than I thought it would
I will be working on a better antenna soon
8:29:09 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
The house was finished. Although, I did leave after 3 years. My ex was a horrible alcoholic and it got him into some big trouble with the law
8:29:28 PM
K9RVM - Rob
The coach can easily hold 6 months of food without any issues. I can store canned goods and freeze dried food without an issue.
8:29:36 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
My last year on the property, we spent over $10,000 keeping him out of federal prison
8:30:00 PM
Ken K7KBJ
OMG !!! That money could have been so better spent !
8:30:00 PM
Josh K7ZIM
The feed is great ken!
8:30:01 PM
K9RVM - Rob
geez Glenda...I didn't know that about your story.
8:30:22 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Ohhh dang!
8:30:25 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I was there to put in the septic system, the foundation and the first floor of the house.
8:30:52 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Have you seen that house later in life?
8:31:16 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I have seen pictures on zillow
It was a trip to see it finished. And to see the log post in the center that I helped stand into placce
8:32:15 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Cool !
8:32:16 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
The trees on the property have thinned badly from a disease that went through
8:32:25 PM

Did anyone go see the vintage trailers this past weekend?
8:33:52 PM
Ken K7KBJ
.
8:34:06 PM
K9RVM - Rob
I really wanted to. I saw them last year and fell in love with the Tommy Bahama Airstream edition. Sadly I didn't make it this year
8:34:12 PM
Josh K7ZIM
No ive been working 24 days straight so didnt get to hot aug nights
8:34:41 PM
K9RVM - Rob
I subscribe to a magazine that showcases vintage trailers and I absolutely love them.
8:34:53 PM
Ken K7KBJ
On another note, we need a Winter Camp trip this year !
8:34:51 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I managed to stop in quick
8:34:55 PM
K9RVM - Rob
It's always in the back of my mind to get one.
8:35:16 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
You volunteering to organize Ken?
8:35:18 PM
K9RVM - Rob
I'm planning on a winter camp
8:35:49 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Ohhh
8:35:52 PM
Ken K7KBJ
I'm volunteering to show up !
8:35:54 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Darn Josh. That's a tough one.
8:35:56 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
I've thought of getting a small one and setting it up in the backyard for my personal space
8:36:24 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Lol! Im not done yet. I'll get a day off some time in sep.
8:36:37 PM
K9RVM - Rob
I'd like to get us in some snow and bad weather to test ourselves a bit
8:37:07 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
24 days straight is brutal
8:37:20 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Regarding putting trailers in the yard..... I discovered a great way to control Rodents. Let me know if you need advice.
8:37:26 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Last time we tried it was one of the worst rain storms in our Nevada near history. Most of us wouldn't have made it. I barely got out of the site I was looking at taking us.
8:37:30 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
We need to build a snow cave
8:37:35 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Maybe this year will be better.
8:37:48 PM
Ken K7KBJ
SNOW CAVE !
8:38:01 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Igloo
8:38:06 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Snow cave would be most coolest to do
8:38:09 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Mice were the worst in the trailer! Especially in the woods
I had several critters visit us inside the trailer
8:38:36 PM
K9RVM - Rob
We'd have to build it big though to fit Rescue Chicken's giant mellon
8:38:43 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
A squirrel crawled on my ex when he was napping
that was pretty funny :)
8:38:56 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Lol
8:39:06 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
a hummingbird flew inside once
8:39:10 PM
K9RVM - Rob
But the heat coming off of his noggin would keep us all comfortably warm.
8:39:22 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Of course, lots of mule deer in the yard
True Rob
That melon is generating so much heat

Bye josh !
8:50:28 PM
K9RVM - Rob
actually I am. I'm working on some topics and format. I have the intention that I may have that book done within a couple of years. My research is panning out that there just isn't anything out there that really addresses the Prepper lifestyle in an RV lifestyle And as I see the industry topping over 30 billion dollars a year it seems to be an untapped audience to address those of us who live like this.
Have a good night Josh

Provide how you store all of your giant hats!
How do you live in only 3200 sq feet with a massive melon?
How wide do the doorways need to be?
Does your giant head fit into the bathroom or did you need to make it extra big?
Does your ginormous cranium block the windows or did you need to make them oversized when you installed them
8:54:58 PM
Ken K7KBJ
.
8:55:03 PM
K9RVM - Rob
Does it take a full sized garage to store your hats?
8:55:19 PM
