Theobromine and Caffeine
Theobromine 99% Powder
Action:
•   It has a similar, but lesser, effect than caffeine in the human nervous system
•   A vasodilator (a blood vessel widener) used to treat high blood pressure.
•   A diuretic (urination aid), and heart stimulant.
•   Antitussive (cough-reducing) effect superior to codeine by suppressing vagus nerve activity.
•   In treating asthma, it relaxes the smooth muscles in the bronchi (bronchodilator) and dilates the bronchial passageways and to improve the passages of air into the lungs.
Dosage:
1.   Theobromine at a dose of 14.5mg/lb produced along-lasting antitussive effect that was significant for up to 4 h after treatment.
2.   500 to1000 mg per day of theobromine as a vasodilator for heart and blood pressure.
3.   In treating asthma, 500 mg one to two times daily or 300 mg  one to three times a day.
4.   Lethal dose for humans was approximately 1000mg/kg, or roughly between 45 and 120 grams for people within typical weight range.
5.   1000 mg = 15 grains;  500 mg = 7.5 grains and 300 mg = 4.5 grains on your powder scale

Caffeine Powder Pure USP Pharmaceutical Grade
Action:
1.   Caffeine as a bronchodialator for mild asthma, even small amounts of caffeine can improve lung function for up to four hours.
2.   Stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), heart, muscles, and the centers that control blood pressure. Caffeine can raise blood pressure, but might not have this effect in people who use it all the time
3.   It is a stimulant and an inflammation reducer; it is used in some over-the-counter pain relievers  to increase efficacy.
4.   Caffeine can also act like a “water pill” that increases urine flow
5.   Doses below 200 milligrams have been shown to improve vigilance and reaction time, increase tapping speed, postpone sleep, and produce reports of increased alertness, energy, motivation to work, desire to talk to people, self-confidence, and well-being.
Dosage:
      1.   About 500 of milligrams were needed to accomplish the effect fully but 100 mg, is enough to open the bronchi airways of asthmatics just a little.
2.   Dose of 3.2mg per 1lb body weight significantly improves the lung functioning of asthmatics and will prevent exercise-induced asthma.
3.   9 mg per kilogram was as efficient as an albuterol inhaler for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
4.   350 mg of caffeine is about 2 strong cups of coffee or black tea.
5.   Affect was maximal two hours after ingestion mean serum half-time for caffeine was 3.9 +/- 1.4 hours
Consuming large amounts of caffeine, exceeding one gram per day (1,000 milligrams), cause a range of symptoms including muscle twitching, anxiety, restlessness, nervousness, insomnia, rambling speech, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), psychomotor agitation, and sensory disturbances including ringing in the ears and flashes of light.

Just a note on Theobromine, it is the substance in chocolate which DOGS  and CATS cannot tolerate, hence the saying "don't feed chocolate to a dog".

Humans, on the other hand, also have a maximum dosage for Theobromine, but it is approximately three times that of dogs and five times the LD (lethal dosage) for cats.

Refernce: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine_poisoningYes, the reference is wikipedia, which is not the most reliable source of information, but you can do a websearch (NOT Google, please) and find much more using: "theobromine and dogs" as the search term.
