Well it's time for the FALL CAMP and TRAINING!
August 28, 29 and 30th
OK folks we are SET!
I have finished setting the schedule and we have some new things for the camp. First is the ARCHERY!!! This is a full basic class given by Wasting Arrows. They will have all of the bows, arrows and targets. Kids to adults, this is for everybody. Even if your not camping, come out for the class.
Next we are going to do our fire-starting and knot classes and we have David who built a portable solar station and will have it there to demo.
Attached is the full schedule with info.
If you have some wood, bring it for the camp fire. If you have questions, please let me know.
I need a head count since we do have a limit at the group site, so I need you guys to post if your coming and I will get out my abacus and total it up.

Cool! I plan to be there!

We'll plan on it too. Depends on what things look like in two months time.
Book two people for now.
-
Will there be more information on this as time goes on? Or is there a webpage I could see now?
Thanks

Did someone say camping? Oh yeah! I'm in!

What happened to summer Camp Out? We will be there, not sure why since we read a post by Glenda that said the government will always help us. But we will come just in case she is trying to mislead us. Can't wait to see everyone. :) :)
-
Would it be possible for me to do a fire making demo?
Joe
-
We will be there with our two grandchildren that attended Conflicted Cards...so that is a total of 4 really excited campers.
-
Great! So what ages are the kids? :)

Camp Update.
After contract negotiations with the attorneys for one, Glenda Dudley, she has agreed to show a one pot, over the fire cooking demo Sat night. This agreement was reached through and elaborate process not unlike opening an embassy on the moon. Thanks Glenda! :o
Also I will do a quick demo on making char cloth. I have tins and if you want to have a tin and try it, bring an ol cotton tshirt or something on that order. ALL COTTON please.
So that is how it was, August 14, too thousand and fifteeeen.

Great Joe. There is interest in doing a demo of making char cloth. I did a video on this and am bringing stuff to do char cloth in tins. Any help you can offer with this and firemaking would be appreciated. 8)

Vic, I apologize for all the torment and turmoil my contract negotiations have caused you. Please try to understand that a woman of my skill and talent just doesn't come easy, a little hard work is all I ask for; after all, I must keep my assets protected. ;D ;D :P ;D ;D

Glenda,
Your humility always astounds me!
Therapy is the only answer for those contract negotiations. My therapist says Pies, lots of Pies will help seal the wounds and paper cuts. :o

It looks like there are 3 entrances. Can you post driving directions to the correct entrance? Is there a group name?
1) Fort Churchill
2) Ft. Churchill-Buckland Station
3) Ft. Churchill-Carson River Ranches
Fees are at this link. There is a discount for NV residents. http://parks.nv.gov/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Feesched2014Inside2.pdf

Renni,
We are in Ft Churchill. Buckland station and Carson River Ranches are not our location. There is one entrance to Ft, Churchill, see the map I attached. You will turn right off highway 95 south. You will come to the pay kiosk and go straight after that. The road makes a loop and comes back to the kiosk, once on the loop, watch for the road that goes to the Bob Haslam Group area.
If in doubt, ask the rangers to the left of the kiosk and they know right where we are or call my cell.
HERE IS ONE MORE MAP

Kid's Survival Tins - For all of you that contributed to the kid's day survival tins, please bring your spares items. It is my understanding after talking to James that Morgan, our littlest and amazing perpetual motion machine Prepper is going to be going us. He missed out on Kid's day and I know he would absolutely love to have a survival tin of his own. (James says it's ok) If you didn't see the faces of the kids light up at Kid's day this will give you a chance to see it happen. I will be brining my supplies that I used, some upgraded items and a spare empty tin that I used to show Paul. If you have stuff left over, we'll add it to his tin so he can have one of his own. I got a survival bracelet for him but if Glenda still has a buckle left and wants to teach him to build his own, he can use it as a special gift for a future girlfriend someday....or barter it for bubblegum. It also gives us a chance to test out under the high intensity rigors of Morgan any new items we got for next years event to insure they are combat ready. So, bring your spare items please and we'll build a new tin with Morgan, one of our future preppers.
Additionally, if anyone has any tinker toys, please bring them. I have the radio land nav class on Sunday and we will be building a model as described to you by your partner over the radio. We left some of the tinker toys behind by mistake so if you have more, I can use them. I plan on a tinker toy run just before heading out but the darn things are hyper expensive to buy. We should quit stocking up on precious metals and instead stock up on tinker toys. They are worth more.
Thanks all and PM me or call me with any questions. 775-813-1827

I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never ever possibly destroy us. Mr. Stay Puft!

Rob, do you know a website that posts the tinker toy spot price?
What is the going barter value of a tinker toy? ;D
-
I will be there on Saturday for the whole day

You should look them up on eBay. They are worth more than my junk silver. Start at the lowest price and work your way up to an actual set of tinker toys. You'd think they were made out of of gold and silver.
-
If we put tinker toys in the category of useful toys for the younger prepper, should we not also include the "erector set" as a more useful "toy" for the serious prepper kit?
I have used parts from my erector set(s) to repair everything from bicycles to home shelving. Some of the more useful items are the larger plate elements (6" x 6") that can be used in many places. They don't need a drill to match holes and the galvanized finish prevents rust (at least in the short term).

I have attached a revised schedule showing Glenda's class, all the rest is the same. I have two other things in my bag, making char cloth and knots if we have some time.
A reminder that if you can bring FIREWOOD, that would be much appreciated. It can be scraps of projects, that works just fine.
So see you there!

Kim,
No problem, love to have you out. Dogs are welcome, bring leash, there will be other dogs so it's social for them.
