We generally cook with cast iron, but, if I had those ingredients available, it would be a real feast!

Yeah, I noticed that many of the recipes were definitely "eatin high on the hog". Not what I would call "prepper" fare...
With some modification, those recipes can be adapted to use prepper food stocks. I do admit that you need some cooking skills to make these changes tasty. I'm getting there, slowly.
Remember, there is only so much you can do with Beans, Rice and Potato flakes... Spices and condiments are a great addition to food stores.

Cast iron may not be Bug out friendly but for stocking a retreat, seasoned cast iron is the way to go.
