I started to add things that might be helpful, stopped and read Jerry's post and after that I had almost nothing to add other than a black plastic bag that can be used as a sleeping bag, tear an opening on the top and they have a raincoat. Eye wash drops in case their eyes start to dry up or they get dirt in them. They come in in packets and are very small. they can even be put in their socks.

I'm a tentative yes with 4 kids aged 6 to 12. I may have 2 more, aged 5 and 6, but I'll confirm.

Edit 6/10/15 ~ Confirmed for 6 kids, ages 5 to 12. Looking forward to it!

I thought the day went very well. I had a great time.

Attached is the hand out I used to present the Tin Can Kits.

For those that expressed an interest in beginning prepping, I have attached my thoughts on that subject as Make A Plan .pdf.

I was also asked about Smartphone apps for preppers. A presentation I did some time ago is attached.

Here is the link to the supplier where I get many of my kit preps, and got most of what I furnished for the tins. If I cannot find something specific at Prep And Save, this is one of my first stops:
http://www.survivalresources.com/Products/Products.html

Just my opinion.

Today was such an amazing day! We had 16 kids ranging in age from 5-16 and parents. The parents were just as thrilled and involved as the kids.

Jerry - you are the Grand Pooba of the survival tin. The items you included were well thought out and these kids are going to treasure those tins for a lifetime. A very special thank you David and Audrey for donating the tins and to David for coming out and standing in as Jerry's flight attendant, giving your on point demonstration of how to use each item in the tin.

Vic - you are the Fire Master and Knot Tying Buddha. Seeing the expressions on each kids face as they successfully started their fires will stick with me forever. Your fire bowls were an ingenius idea. Thank you so much for everything!

Rob - the Compass Commando. Your skill at directions and guiding these kids was above exceptional. You've given each of these youngsters direction in their life journey.

Ken - well, what can I say. If there are no new HAM radio operators from this event, I hold you personally responsible.

And to the lovely Lisa - the High Priestess of Herding Cats. Thank you for helping keep everything on track and moving smoothly. But most of all, thank you for having my back today.

You guys are the best!

I was received this from a parent that attended today's event.

Thank you so much!

That was a remarkable day.  You all were so generous with your time and your supplies.
We all learned so much. The kids had a blast showing dad all the items in their tin, what each item was and how to use it. This was simply remarkable.  Please tell your group how much we appreciated this.

Thank you,
The Andersons

This was a amazing day. Glenda really outdid herself coordinating this event and getting everyone together as well as presenting the paracord bracelet class. Jerry's efforts, attention to detail and the amount and quality of equipment he brought for the tins was over the top. Vic's fire starting presentation was a huge hit with the kids and it was awesome to see their reactions to making fire with ferro rods. Ken did a great shop showing the kids ham radio and demonstrating its uses. And thanks to David and Audrey for the tins and David's help at the site. All in all it was a lot of fun and turned out to be a great opportunity to give back to the community and worth doing again next year.

This was a great event. I was impressed not only with the information taught but also with how well-organized and presented each topic was.  I'm so glad to have found this wonderful group of people.

I'd love to help with setting up or gathering materials for future events. This is definitely a group in which it is worth investing.

Thank you for a wonderful Saturday event!
