Pineapple growing
« on: December 30, 2016, 09:43:03 AM »
This is a greenhouse / indoor option in our Nevada winter climate...

Buy a whole pineapple, with leaves on top, from the grocery store.

I would recommend using more than one, in case your first attempt fails to root, or rots from too much water.

Why?

First because pineapples are tasty.  Pineapple Upside Down Cake!  Pineapple glaze, Pineapple everywhere.
Second, because they have good Vitamin C.
Third as trade goods.
Fourth, if you can plant them outside, as a barrier plant around your homestead / BOL.

They do take 18 months to grow in Hawaii but it could be done. After all they are growing bananas in Iceland in volcanic steam heated greenhouses but it takes two years.
