Lithium Battery Life Extension
« on: June 03, 2015, 02:44:54 PM »
Many of our devices use Lithium batteries (cells).

The expected lifetime of the cell (rechargeable or not) can be effected by how you use, store and recharge it.

This article lists methods for stretching your cell's lifetime.

NOTE: even cells which are NOT USED will loose capacity over time.

Please note that lithium cells are probably NOT the best choice for SHTF batteries.  They will die, even if you do not use them.  Storage lifetimes are still long, but they do not last forever...

At this time, the best choices for STORING UNUSED CELLS is to use either Lead-Acid cells, stored without electrolyte solution (DRY) or Nickle-Iron cells, stored dry, without electrolyte.

When you need to use them, add the appropriate electrolyte solution and apply a topping charge.
